The Toyota Etios is a line of four-door sedan and hatchback cars produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota for the Indian automotive market since 2010 and for South Africa, Brazil since 2012 and Indonesia since 2013 (1.2 litre petrol hatchback). The Etios nameplate comes from the Greek "Ethos", meaning spirit, character, and ideas. The sedan version was launched in December 2010 and the Liva hatchback was launched in June 2011. In May 2012, the Etios Series reached total sales of 100,000 units in India. In March 2013, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited launched the Etios and Liva with enhanced interiors and exteriors. Also Etios Liva TRD Sportivo, a new grade was launched with a new 1.5 l engine. Further Toyota has upgraded etios in November 2014 with minimal interior and exterior changes which also drastically reduced the engine noise filtering into the cabin. Toyota introduced the Etios MR2 in 2010, designating it the model code "AK10". When fitted with the 1.2-liter ''3NR-FE'' engine, it is known as the "NGK12". Likewise, the 1.5-liter ''2NR'' version is identified by the "NGK15" code. The 1.4-liter ''1ND'' diesel version is referred to as the "NUK15". The Etios is based on the EFC platform. ==Etios Concept (2010)== Available in hatchback and sedan bodies, the concept vehicles were developed for Indian market.
